About this item
The most amazing part about shells is their diversity- in shape, size, colour, and in texture. A shell enthusiast can be wonderstruck by nature's beauty in such diversity. As they are the left-over remains when the animal dies, there are countless shells spread over beaches and sea-beds. They serve as an inexhaustible, rich, and readily available natural resource.,
Communities living close to the coast have over the years used them for decorative purposes. They thread the shells to make necklaces and other ornaments, mosaic patterns to adorn their walls, shell-adorned objects such as photo frames, mirrors, storage boxes, stationary-holders, vases, and a host of other products. They serve as an alternate revenue generator for many a local handicraft industry.
This kit provides an Omnibox of creativity with shells. Eleven assortments of shells have been specially selected for this kit.
The largest board piece can be used for making a photo-frame which can house 2 pictures. First, plan out a design using different combinations of shells. There is more scope here as there is a larger surface area. Now select a set of photographs that form a family, cut them to fit the 2 frame areas, and slide them into the respective slots. Your frame is now ready for display. You can mount it on the stand which is provided in this kit.
Shell fridge magnets
There are eight smaller board cut-outs provided in this kit. These can be made into shell fridge magnets. Depending on what one wants to make, the cut-out is selected. You can refer to the fridge magnets shown on the box cover as reference leads. The shell shapes guide you on what you can make with them right from butterflies, valentines, animal faces, flowers, mini picture frames, or floral designs. After the shells have been arranged and stuck on the cut-outs, the balance outer area, if any, can be cut. On each of the cut-outs, ring magnets are stuck on the back and then they can be displayed on the fridge.
3 – D shell displays
Three-dimensional objects made using shell sculpture have been a favourite traditional craft amongst the people who live near the coast as the region provides a rich source of shells. They have excelled in making figurines by joining shells using indigenized adhesive medium. One can learn a lot from their originality in sculpturing individual shell architecture. Taking a cue from them, this kit provides an assortment of these larger shells as well so that the children can emulate and also create their own shell sculptures.
The models shown on the box serve as leads. The most favourite objects are women and birds.
you can shell-shock many an admirer with these fabulous creations!
