About this item

About this kit - This Origami offering from Toykraft is a great creative craft for +5 year old kids, as they can make origami models appropriate to their age. Children get a real sense of satisfaction out of making them. Children, in particular, find it fascinating, being able to fold a piece of paper into various shapes and figures, considering they are not yet able to draw. Converting a two-dimensional surface into a three-dimensional model is an achievement by itself.

What’s in this kit? - In this Toykraft DIY kit 50 Origami sheets are provided and a comprehensively illustrated book of Origami folding instructions is provided in the kit. Children and beginners can make fun and simple origami projects with this playful origami kit. It is the perfect, introductory kit for kids and parents to learn and master the joys of origami together.

How to make it? - The illustrated book provides step by step folding instructions and guides the Origami enthusiast into making 23 items. Some of these include a Boat, Yacht, Steamship and Sailboat, Bananas, Strawberry, Christmas tree. Candle, Car, Samurai Hat, House, Toadstool, Candybox, Butterfly, Star hanging and Boxes.

What do we learn? - By doing so children will get practice at following instructions, increasing manual dexterity, and produce fun and decorative end-products. Furthermore, it helps them to develop their creative skills and it also helps them to relax. Origami provides them with an opportunity to sit quietly and peacefully while making themodels.

Although, it sounds easy and simple, it needs to be done perfectly. Nothing could be more basic than folding a sheet of paper. Yet, despite this wonderful simplicity, there are guidelines to follow that will make the process of folding easier and very satisfying. Please follow them so that the experience of making the models is pleasurable.

The origami instructions enable you to produce toys such as Origami Samurai hat Origami Samurai helmet, Origami Yacht, Origami Bananas, Origami Car, Origami House, Origami Steamship, Origami Sail boat, Origami Sampan, Origami Strawberry, Origami Candle , Origami Mushroom Toadstool , Origami Candy Box , Origami X-Mas Tree, Origami Star box and Origami Butterfly .

1.Before you begin working on the models, ensure that your hands are clean.

2.Check that the paper you are folding is exactly square. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to fold paper which is not quite square.

3.Do not fold against a soft surface, such as a carpet, your lap or bed sheets. Fold against a hard surface such as a large hardback book or a table.

4.Crease slowly, firmly and accurately. Form the initial creases with particular care - if they are incorrectly placed, all the later smaller creases will be difficult to plac accurately and will look messy.

5.Before beginning work on the models, understand the section of 'Symbols & Methods' very carefully and practice all the folds, one by one, using any square paper.

6.Read the instructions and follow the symbols in each step. Many a mistake is made by ignoring written instructions or by not following all the written instructions in a step, particularly during complex manoeuvres.

7.The instructions and symbols in one step will create a shape which looks like the next step but stripped of its symbols. So, you must always look ahead to the next step to see what shape you are trying to make. Never look at steps in isolation, but see them as being interconnected, like links in a chain.

8.When making a crease, join the corners or edges specified, with utmost care and accuracy. Only then press the paper to form the crease. While pressing to form the crease, always press starting from the points specified and go inwards or outwards from there.

9.If you make a mistake while making the model or feel that your model is coming out differently, retrace your steps one by one until you reach the step that matches. Then go over the instructions again carefully and follow the symbols. You probably missed something very trivial.
